Who Said Streamyx Cannot Stream YouTube?

Register.com Private Domain Registration Who Said Streamyx Cannot Stream YouTube?

0 Who Said Streamyx Cannot Stream YouTube? This videos proves that Streamyx can Streamyx YouTube pretty fast.
***************DNS***************
(Domain Name System)
In the video I said that it’s a must to change the DNS which is not but is better if you do change it. If you do change it then you will be able to surf the internet faster and by-pass Streamyx web filter also, like you’ll be able to open megauplaod.com which is currently block by Streamyx.

Q:
How to change my DNS?
A:
Choose your computer and follow the instructions:

https://store.opendns.com/setup/computer/

The “Preferred DNS Server” and “Alternate DNS Server” option is where you will have to put in the DNS server IP.

You can use Open DNS (You don’t need to register to use it, Just use it.):
Preferred DNS Server: 208.67.222.222
Alternate DNS Server: 208.67.220.220

Or you can use Google Public DNS which is currently abit more faster for Malaysia:
Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS Server: 8.8.4.4

***************DSL Tips***************
In order to get your Max Speed or the Speed of your account, your
DSL(aka ADSL) Line speed must be the same or more to achieve that.

Q:
Where to i check my DSL or ADSL info?
A:
It’s all in you modem.

You can most likely access your modem admin page here:
http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1
If that doesn’t work, or you don’t know the username/password please READ THE F*CKING MANUAL or USE GOOGLE TO FIND THE USERNAME/PASSWORD.

Once you are in the info should appear under the general status or ADSL status page.

====Downstream/Upstream====
This is the rate of your speed from you line (not account speed)

Here are the rates for each Streamyx package:

Package: Streamyx 384kbps
Upstream: 128kbps
Downstream: 384kbps

Package: Streamyx 512kbps
Upstream: 256kbps
Downstream: 512kbps

Package: Streamyx 1.0Mbps
Upstream: 384kbps
Downstream: 1024kbps

Package: Streamyx 2.0Mbps
Upstream: 384kbps
Downstream: 2048kbps

Package: Streamyx 4.0Mbps
Upstream: 512kbps
Downstream: 4096kbps

It should be exactly like that or usually more but if it’s less then you know who to call scold at :)

====Noise Margin====
(AKA Signal to Noise Margin or Signal to Noise Ratio)

Relative strength of the DSL signal to Noise ratio. 6dB is the lowest dB manufactures specify for modem to Register.com Private Domain Registration Who Said Streamyx Cannot Stream YouTube?
be able to sync. In some instances interleaving can help raise the noise margin to an acceptable level.
The higher the number the better for this measurement.

6dB or below is bad and will experience no sync or intermittent sync problems
7dB-10dB is fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions
11dB-20dB is good with no sync problems
20dB-28dB is excellent
29dB or above is outstanding

====Line Attenuation====
(AKA the one which causes the Jitter)

Measure of how much the signal has degraded between the DSLAM and the modem. Maximum signal loss recommendation is usually about 60dB. The lower the dB the better for this measurement.

20dB and below is outstanding
20dB-30dB is excellent
30dB-40dB is very good
40dB-50dB is good
50dB-60dB is poor and may experience connectivity issues
60dB or above is bad and will experience connectivity issues

Both upstream (63db) and downstream (53db) are at dangerous levels..and may cause me connectivity issues.

So to be realistic, what you should hope for on your Streamyx line is Noise Ratio of between 10-20db for
both upstream and downstream and as for line attenuation, the lower the better but being in the 30-50db
range would be fine.

***************YouTube Player***************
Q:
How does YouTube Players works?

A:
When you open a video for the first time it will allow you to stream at you maximum speed then after a certain percentage of the video has loaded it will slow down your

streaming speed, that is how the player works but if you have problem like not loading at all or too slow then simply just clear you browser data and reload the YouTube page and remove and extra URL tags like &vq=medium and just use the basic URL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXXXXXXX if the video still does not load then try moving the slider forward and let it load abit then move it back to the beginning of the video if it’s still not loading fast then try to change the the quality to a higher one.

Note: For Malaysia we have our own YouTube cache server that is why we get reach our max speed..

SOPA: Red Herring for the ‘Thick WHOIS System’

Register.com Private Domain Registration SOPA: Red Herring for the Thick WHOIS System

0 SOPA: Red Herring for the Thick WHOIS SystemSOPA/PIPA/OPEN Smoke screen for the ‘Thick WHOIS System’

No Agenda episode 374 – By Adam Curry. Posted Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 1:36 PM.

http://374.nashownotes.com/

————————————————————–

SOPA is a Red Herring

http://blog.curry.com/stories/2012/01/16/sopaIsARedHerring.html

“Actually there are 3 pieces of legislation; the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) and the Online Protection and Enforcement of Digital Trade Act (OPEN,) which is currently in draft form, initially proposed by Darrel Issa (R) who will be holding a hearing on Wednesday regarding the strong opposition to DNS ‘tampering’ as a punitive measure against foreign registered websites infringing on intellectual property and trademarks of US companies within the borders of the United States.

I have read all three pieces of legislation (its a hobby) and can confidently say that not only are they pretty much identical in scope. The key differences are that only SOPA proposes the DNS ‘tampering’, which would allow US officials to remove an infringing website’s DNS records from the root servers if deemed to be operating in defiance of Intellectual Property and Trademark law, effectively rendering them unfindable when you type in a corresponding domain name website address.

The organization that actually runs the DNS root servers, ICANN, the backbone of the web, has been quite busy in plain view on changing the game, in favor of the government. The real change, that of your privacy online, is being made in plain sight by former Director of the National Cyber Security Center of the Department of Homeland Security Rod Beckstrom, current CEO of ICANN. You must verify who you are when you register a new domain name, even an international one. This way, when OPEN or perhaps a non-NDS-version of SOPA is passed, if you break the rules, you will be hunted down, regardless of where you live or operate since this also includes international domain names.”

Fight brewing over thick .com Whois

http://domainincite.com/fight-brewing-over-thick-com-whois/

This year is likely to see a new fight over whether Verisign should be forced to create a “thick” Whois database for .com and its other generic top-level domains.

While Verisign has taken a deliberately ambivalent position on whether ICANN policy talks should kick off, the community is otherwise split on whether a mandatory thick Whois is a good idea.

Currently, only .com, .net, .name and .jobs — which are all managed on Verisign’s registry back-end — use a thin Whois model, in which domain name registrars store their customers’ data.

Other gTLDs all store registrant data centrally. Some “sponsored” gTLD registries have an even closer relationship with Whois data — ICM Registry for example verifies .xxx registrants’ identities.

But in a Preliminary Issue Report published in November, ICANN asked whether it should kick off a formal Policy Development Process that could make thick Whois a requirement in all gTLDs.

In comments filed with ICANN last week, Verisign said:

As the only existing registry services provider impacted by any future PDP on Thick Whois, Verisign will neither advocate for nor against the initiation of a PDP.

“Verisign believes the current Whois model for .com, .net, .name and .jobs is effective and that the proper repository of registrant data is with registrars — the entities with direct connection to their customers. However, if the community, including our customers, determines through a PDP that “going thick” is now the best approach, we will respect and implement the policy decision.”

HOW TO change Netflix UK content to Netflix US on Xbox 360 and PS3

0 HOW TO change Netflix UK content to Netflix US on Xbox 360 and PS3THIS WORKS ON ALL DEVICES THAT ALLOW YOU TO MANUALLY INPUT YOUR DNS SERVER.

Primary DNS: 208.122.23.22
Secondary DNS: 208.122.23.23

So I managed to swap Netflix UK’s content with Netflix US’ content just by changing the DNS. I keep saying in the video that I’m not sure it works on the Xbox 360, but I’ve just gotten confirmation from my friend that it DOES. Follow the steps and enjoy the US Netflix content. It’s 100000x better. I have NO CLUE if this works with other countries, but it works 100% in the UK.
